The Healing Crisis....Releasing the Toxic Energy from Cellular Memory!

What is a healing crisis? The healing crisis occurs when the body tries to eliminate toxins at a faster rate then they can properly be disposed of. The more toxic one's bodily systems are, the more severe the detoxification, or healing crisis. It is characterized by a temporary increase in symptoms during the cleansing or detox process which may be mild or severe. You may feel worse and therefore conclude that the treatment is not working. But these reactions are instead signs that the treatment is working and that your body is going through the process of cleaning itself of impurities, toxins and imbalances. Such reactions are temporary and can occur immediately...or within several days, or even weeks, of a healing treatment. Symptoms usually pass within 1-3 days, but on rare occasions can last longer. If you are suffering from a major illness, the symptoms you experience during the healing crisis may be identical to the illness itself. Sometimes discomfort during the healing crisis is of greater intensity than when you were developing the chronic disease. This may explain why there may be a brief flare-up in one's condition.
Symptoms of a Healing Crisis: The healing crisis will usually bring about past conditions in whatever order the body is capable of handling at that time. People often forget the diseases or injuries they have had in the past, but are usually reminded during the crisis. There are a wide variety of reactions that may manifest during the healing crisis. The most common are: Increased joint or muscle pain; Diarrhea; Extreme fatigue or Restleness; Headache ( from build up of toxins in the blood); Aches/pain; Arthritic flare-up; Insominia; Nausea; Sinus congestion; Low grade Fever and/or chills; Skin eruptions; Cold or flu like symptoms; Strong emotions...anger, despair, sadness, fear, etc.; Supressed memories; Mood swings...etc.
Healing at the Cellular Level: There are so many wonderful healing modalities that aid us on our healing journey's! I know as a Reiki Teacher & Practitioner, I have tried many different modalities, and have felt their wonderfully relaxing, releasing, and balancing effects on my body....but I also am very aware of the healing crisis that my body expereiences with each healing modality I choose to experience. This is very much a part of a healing journey...releasing built up toxic energy that has laid buried deep within our bodies, minds and souls! In order to heal we must release that which has kept us from moving forward, and that usually means re-experiencing some of the pain, or discomfort that was a part of the intitial health crisis...whether it was of a mental, emotional or physical nature. This can be very scary and stressful until you realize it is an important part of the healing process. Our bodies have a cellular memory and so much of what we experience in our lives are stored at the cellular level and each time we experience some sort of memory trigger, like for example; someone yelling (does not have to be at us)...we instantly cringe and shrink inside ourselves like we might have done as a child, and this can create a very stressful/physical response in our bodies that comes out as stomache upset or nervous tension... we re-experience the problem/illness/trauma. In order to truly heal we must allow our bodies to release this toxic energy at the cellular level so we no longer respond to a preset trigger. This means allowing the healing to go much deeper than any surface complaints. Going beyond the physical ailment to the deeper emotional cause of the illnnes or disease....that is stored in the cellular memory.
Now when I say we must allow our bodies to release this toxic energy at the cellular level...I mean we must allow the healing crisis to occur and though we can ease it's effects by nurturing ourselves during this process, we must try not to stop it by running from it....another words ceasing all treatment or by taking over the counter medications that one might use to relieve a head-ache or something to stop a case of diarrhea etc...just a couple of ways the body rids itself of toxins...instead sipping a herbal tea or taking a warm epsom salt bath and going to bed early and always drinking lots of purified water helps the body through the crisis. Plenty of rest is usually called for in extreme cases, as the body does it's greatest healing during the sleep/rest state. Also seeking help during this period can also be very beneficial... a massage, Reiki treatment, using Energy Medicine(meridian tapping), reflexology treatment, accupuncture, or guidance from a Naturopath or other healing modality might speed up the the healing process, and reduce the discomfort. Also in some cases going for counselling will also be of great benefit to help guide you through the process... especially if the illness/problem being released is of a very emotional/traumatic nature.
There is no time frame on a healing...it is what you are ready to heal and release and it is ok to take a time out and allow yourself to re-group and then continue on your own personal healing journey!
Important: Always ensure your health by having a thorough medical check up: don't assume that if you have any of the healing crisis symptoms that your are in a healing crisis: you may not be in a healing process, you may have a medical health problem.
Remember...you must be an active participant in your own healing journey!
